‘Jacks To Host Sonoma State and SF State in Dam Worth It and Senior Day Matches

ARCATA, Calif---  Humboldt State women's soccer team will finish off its home part of their 2021 regular season schedule this weekend with a pair of CCAA games.  The 'Jacks will host nationally-ranked Sonoma State this Friday, October 22 at 12:30pm in their Dam Worth It Match in awareness of mental health.  HSU will finish off its homestand with a 11:30am match with San Francisco State on Sunday, October 24.  This will be the Lumberjacks' Senior Day match.

COACHING STAFF:  Coach Grant Landy will begin his second season at the helm of the Lumberjack women's soccer program after coaching for 23 years at Concordia University-Portland.  During his career, Landy has compiled a 392-90-42 record for a .789 winning percentage. He will be assisted by Lumberjack Alum Taylor McMillin, who is in her fourth season as the top assistant for the women's soccer team.

RECAP OF LAST WEEKEND:  Humboldt State started its week with a 2-0 loss at Stanislaus State on Thursday despite out-shooting the Warriors 22-11.  Then on Sunday, HSU lost 1-0 to Cal State East Bay despite once again out-shooting its opponents 11-8.

LEADERS: Kendal Spencer and Clara Lenihan each are tied for the team lead with three goals with one assist for a team high seven points.  Maya Davis, Kelsey Bess and Baylee Groom each have a team high two assists.  Alexis Aguilar has a .821 saves percentage with a 0.87 goals against average with 54 saves and three shutouts.

SENIOR DAY:  Prior to Sunday's match, HSU will recognize its three seniors in Claire Bareilles, Tana Eri and Clara Lenihan.  

CCAA LEADERSKendal Spencer and Alexis Aguilar are in the top ten in the CCAA in five statistical categories.  Spencer is tied for fifth in game-winning goals with two.  Aguilar is fourth in saves per game, sixth in saves percentage, tied for seventh in shutouts per game and eighth in goals against average.  

SONOMA STATE :  The Seawolves, who were No. 13 in last week's United Soccer Coaches/NCAA Division II National Poll, are 10-2 overall and 5-1 in the CCAA.  They are led by Molly Murphy and Malia Falk each with four goals scored and three assists. Lexi Randonella-Arasa and Renee Ketner each have a team leading three game-winning goals. Sonoma State leads the all-time series 17-1-3 with the Seawolves winning the last 11 consecutive matches.  The Seawolves defeated the 'Jacks 2-1 in Rohnert Park in 2019.  The last HSU win was a 3-1 win in Arcata in 2009.  

SAN FRANCISCO STATE: The Gators are 6-6-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the CCAA.  Twelve different players have scored at least one goal this season with Glory Smith leading the team with her one goal and three assists.  Marcella Salyer has posted a 1.06 goals against average with a .792 saves percentage, 42 saves and three shutouts.   

UP NEXT: Humboldt State will finish off its regular season with a three-match road trip. The 'Jacks will be at Cal Poly Pomona (Oct. 29), Cal State Los Angeles (Oct. 31) and Chico State (Nov. 4) to end their regular season.
