SAN MARCOS, Calif--- The Humboldt State duo of
Saedy Williamson and
Rosa Granados earned All-California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) honors by finishing in the top 15 at the 2021 CCAA Championships in San Marcos, Calif. Williamson ran a 21:17.7 to finish in eight place and Granados was tenth with her time of 21:23.0 in the 6K women's race.. As a team, the 'Jacks finished in sixth place while the men finished in ninth place.
Ian Rusk paced the Lumberjack men with his 32
nd place time of 25:51.6 in the 8K men's race.
ALL-CCAA: By placing in the top 15 at the CCAA Championships, both
Saedy Williamson and
Rosa Granados earned All-CCAA honors. Williamson finished in eighth place with a time of 21:17.7 while Granados was tenth with her time of 21:23.0. Stanislaus State's Kaela Dision won the 6K race with her time of 20:41.7. Also figuring into the Lumberjacks' sixth place finish were

QUOTES FROM THE COACH: "I am really proud of the way we competed," said head coach
Jamey Harris. "We had several women PR by over a minute, so I am pleased with the result, but what was really impressive today was the effort. Everyone dug deep and fought for every place, right to the finish line."
SIXTH PLACE: As a team, the 'Jacks finished in sixth place out of 11 teams with their 173 points. Stanislaus State captured the team title with 38 points followed by Chico State in second at 55. Rounding out the top five were Cal State San Marcos (68 points), Cal State East Bay (87 points) and Cal Poly Pomona (163 points).
RUSK LEADS THE WAY: Ian Rusk paced the Lumberjack men's team with his 32
nd place time of 25:51.6 in the 8K race. Finishing right behind Rusk was
Ricardo Torres (40
th, 26:05.3) and
Carson Smith (54
th, 26:26.4). Also figuring into Humboldt State's 224 points were
Jaxon Leduc (59
th, 26;39.4) and
Kaleb Traficante (62
nd, 26:51.9). Also running in the Green and Gold this morning was the following:
Elliott Portillo (63
rd, 26:57.4), Jacob Zercero (64
th, 27:01.8) and
Michael Gengo (70
th, 27:41.5). Chico State's Brayden McLaughlin captured the 8K race with his time of 24:43.0.
QUOTES FROM THE COACH: "This was not our best day," added Harris. "Ian (Rusk), Ricardo (Torres) and Jaxon (Leduc) were solid, but everyone else is capable of better. "Obviously losing Sebastian to a mid-race injury hurt too. We'll regroup and try to have a better performance at Regionals."
NINTH PLACE: The Lumberjacks finished in ninth place with 224 points. Chico State won the team title with 25 points followed by Cal Poly Pomona with 83 points and Cal State San Marcos (88 points). Stanislaus State finished in fourth place with 109 points followed by Cal State East Bay in fifth place with 144 points.
UP NEXT: Both the men's and women's teams will be off for two weeks preparing for the NCAA Division II West Regional Championships in Monmouth, Ore., on November 6. The regionals will take place at the Ash Creek Preserve on the campus of Western Oregon University.
