MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Cal Poly Humboldt women's cross country team faced off against strong regional competition at the Mike Johnson Classic on Saturday morning in Monmouth, Oregon. The meet featured top NCAA Division II programs and served as a midseason test for the Lumberjacks.
WOMEN'S 6K
On the women's side, the 'Jacks finished ninth overall out of 14 teams, tallying 246 points. Senior Isabel Perez-Zoghbi paced the Jacks with a 17th-place finish, clocking a time of 21:32.00.
Senior Lex Craven was the next finisher for Humboldt, placing 55th at 22:48.20, while junior Brinna Weiseth crossed with a time of 23:36.20. Sophomore Lyla Fedio (23:41.30) and sophomore Anna Tasky (23:53.50) completed the top five for Humboldt.
The Lumberjacks competed against a field highlighted by Chico State, which captured the team title.
"We had two of our top five female athletes fall sick this morning", said Pesch. "Despite that, we were proud of how their teammates picked them up and ran strong. [Perez-Zoghbi] had a standout race with a top 20 performance."
UP NEXT
The Lumberjacks will return to action on Friday, Oct. 10, traveling to the San Francisco State Invitational at Golden Gate Park for another key competition as they continue building toward the CCAA Championships.
