CHICO, Calif. — Led by a standout performance from junior Isabel Perez-Zoghbi, the Cal Poly Humboldt women's cross country team placed seventh out of 12 teams (11 eligible for postseason) at the CCAA Cross Country Championships held Saturday morning at Hooker Oak Park in Chico. The Jacks totaled 205 points in the team standings to conclude a strong showing in a deep conference field.
Perez-Zoghbi paced Humboldt with a 15th-place finish in 22:14.1, earning All-CCAA honors for the second time in her collegiate career. The recognition adds to an already impressive resume for the Jacks' top runner, who has been a consistent front-runner throughout the fall season.
Behind Perez-Zoghbi, Brinna Weiseth crossed the line in 41st place (23:34.0), while Lyla Fedio finished 57th (24:02.3) and Maddie McKenna came in 60th (24:18.4). Charlotte Leonard rounded out Humboldt's scoring five in 71st (24:39.1).
Also competing for the Jacks, Anna Tasky placed 77th (25:04.9) and Nayeli Huynh finished 84th (25:17.5) to complete a strong team effort across the lineup.
"The coaching staff is truly proud of how everyone performed," stated interim head coach Scott Pesch. "Special congratulations to Isabel for her All-CCAA award! We are excited to have a great finish to our season at the NCAA Regional Championships on November 8 in Monmouth, Oregon."
Chico State captured the team title for the third consecutive season.
Cal Poly Humboldt will now turn its attention to the NCAA Division II West Regional Championships, set for Saturday, November 8 in Monmouth, Oregon, where the Jacks will look to build on their conference momentum and continue their postseason run.
