Lumberjacks Look To Continue Winning Ways in Season Ending Three-Match Road Trip

Ethan Conaty and HSU's Defense Has Posted 8 Shutouts This season
ARCATA, Calif---  After winning their last four matches in a row, the Humboldt State men's soccer team will look to continue their winning ways as they finish the regular season with a three-match road trip.  The 'Jacks will begin their road trip with a pair of matches in Southern California.  HSU will face Cal Poly Pomona this Friday, October 29 at 3pm in Pomona. Then on Sunday, October 31, HSU will travel to Los Angeles for a 11:30am match with Cal State Los Angeles.

COACHING STAFF:  Coach Fred Jungemann is in his ninth year on the sideline for the Lumberjacks.  This year, Coach Jungemann's assistants are three former Lumberjacks in Frankie Calderon, Phil Rouse and Isaiah Dairo who will begin their first year on the Lumberjack coaching staff. 
 
LAST WEEK'S GAMES;  For the second straight week in a row, Humboldt State went 2-0 to finish off its home part of the Lumberjacks' regular season schedule.  The 'Jacks started the weekend with a 2-1 overtime win over Sonoma State on Friday afternoon.  Marco Silveira scored the match's first goal off a ball from Devin Hauenstein in the tenth minute. Sonoma State tied the match late in the first half on a penalty kick.  The 'Jacks won the game just 46 seconds into the overtime period when Daniel Adeyeye connected on a ball from Yushi Kato.  HSU finished the week with a 1-0 win over SF State on Sunday afternoon.  Dylan Tovani scored the game-winners with just 58 seconds left in the match.  Adrian Gallardo had four saves in goal for the Lumberjacks, who improve to 10-2 overall and 4-2-2- in the CCAA. 
 
MOST WINS SINCE 2006:  The 10 wins by the Lumberjacks this season are the most since the 2006 when the 'Jacks finished the season 11-6-3.  That season, the 'Jacks finished with a 7-6-3 CCAA record and in fourth place in the CCAA North Division. 
 
PLAYOFF HUNT:  Heading into the final two weeks of the regular season, the Lumberjacks are in fifth place in the CCAA Standings.  The top six teams will receive a berth to the CCAA Soccer Championships, Nov. 7, 12-14.  Cal State Los Angeles holds the top spot followed by Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State Dominguez Hills.  Rounding out the top six are Cal State San Bernardino, Humboldt State and Chico State. The first round will be at the higher seed on November 7 with the top two seeds receiving a bye.  The semi-final and final matches will be at Cal State Los Angeles on November 12-14
 
LEADERS:  Marco Silveira leads the 'Jacks with his team high seven goals, ten assists and 24 points.  He also has a team high four game-winning goals, Daniel Adeyeye is next with his three goals and two assists for nine points.  Daniel Tovani, Alex Lopez and Yushi Kato each have scored three goals and have an assist.  Adrian Gallardo has posted a 0.59 goals against average with a .869 saves percentage and seven shutouts. 
 
CCAA: Four 'Jacks are in the top ten in nine statistical categories in Adrian Gallardo, Alex Lopez, Marco Silveira and Dylan Tovani.  Gallardo is second in goals against average, saves percentage and shutouts while he is third in saves and saves per game.  Silveira leads the conference in assists and game-winning goals while he is tied for second in points and tied for fifth in goals scored.  Tovani and Lopez are tied for third in game-winning goals. 
 
MOVING CLOSER:  Marco Silveira is second on HSU's all-time career assists list with 24.  Kevin Wiese holds the career record with 30.  He is one  goal from moving into tenth place on the career goals list.  Silveira has scored 15 goals during his career in the Green and Gold.  He is fourth on the single season assists list with ten  the senior forward is two from moving into third and four from first.  Adrian Gallardo's seven shutouts is second on the Lumberjacks' single season shutouts.  Scott Power recorded eight in 1989 to hold the single season record at HSU.
 
CAL POLY POMONA: The Broncos are 9-2-3 overall and 6-0-2 in the CCAA, which places the Broncos in second place.  Paul Henschke leads the way for CPP with his 11 goals and two assists.  Jerry Ramirez has scored eight goals and assisted on two.  Ramirez and Henschke each have two game-winning goals.  Jordan Aldama has posted a .955 goals against average with a .714 saves percentage and six shutouts.  The Broncos lead the all-time series with HSU 11-2 and have won the last eight meetings in a row including 4-0 in 2019 in Pomona.  The last Lumberjack win was in 2010 in Arcata, a 3-2 'Jack victory.
 
CAL STATE LOS ANGELES:  Cal State Los Angeles, who was ranked number eighth in the most recent United Soccer/NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Poll, is 9-2-2 overall and 7-0-1 in the CCAA.  The Golden Eagles are in first place in the CCAA.  Daniel Yu leads CSULA with his two goals and three assists while Anton Olfosson and Lucas Rosales each have scored three goals and recorded an assist.  All three of Olfosson's goals have been game-winners.  Andre Wall has scored a goal and assisted on four.  Alvaro Unanua has posted a 0.362 goals against average with a .898 saves percentage and nine shutouts.  Cal State Los Angeles leads the all-time series with the 'Jacks 9-5 including winning 2-1 in Arcata in 2019. Current assistant coach Isaiah Dairo scored HSU's goal.  The last time that HSU defeated the Golden Eagles was in 2017 in Arcata, a 2-1 victory with Dairo scoring the game-winner.
