ARCATA, Calif.--- As announced by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association earlier today,
six membersof the Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjacks women's rowing team were named 2022
CRCA Scholar Athletes. These six Jacks are
Dana Foley,
Cassidy Hollenbeck, Kierstyn
Hughes ,
Marjorie Johnson,
Kealey Scott and
Malia Seeley.
"I am very proud of these athletes with their ability to perform on the water and in the
classroom,"said head coach
Matt Weise. "They are setting a high standard for their
younger teammates and I expect them to follow their lead next year."
The CRCA Scholar Student-Athlete Award requires that student-athletes must be in their
second, third, or fourth year of eligibility, must have rowed in at least 70 percent of the
regular season and/or at conference/national championships, and must have a 3.50
cumulative GPA or higher for their career.
This is the third time that Hughes has received this honor during her career at Humboldt
while it's the first time that Foley, Hollenbeck, Johnson, Scott and Seeley have been
named to the CRCA Scholar Athlete list.
Earlier this year, Seeley was named to the All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference
(GNAC) Team while Foley was named the GNAC Newcomer of the Year as voted on by
the conference's head coaches. Eight Jacks were named to the GNAC Women's Rowing
Team All-Academic Team, presented by Barnes & Nobel in Hollenbeck, Hughes, Johnson,
Scott, Seeley along with
Marie-Claire Desplancke,
Megan Franco and
Sophie Reich.
