LEXINGTON, Ky.----Â Cal Poly Humboldt's volleyball team was announced as one of the 1,213 recipients of the 2022 United States Marine Corps (USMC) and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) that earned the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2021-22 season.

The USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams (men/women, boys/girls, indoor/ beach) that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale, or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale, or an 82.0 on a 100-point scale. If your school uses another grading scale (7.0, 8.0, etc.)Â

Earlier this year, nine members of Humboldt's volleyball team were named to the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Fall Academic Honor Roll in
Carla Crespo,
Gianna Giacomotto,
Lenox Loving,
Lindsey McLaughlin,
Katie Nall,
Kaitlyn Patterson,
Macy Thomas and
Riley White. Crespo and McLaughlin earned All-CCAA honors as voted on by the league's head coaches.

Humboldt was one of seven teams from the CCAA to earn this honor this academic year. The Jacks were one of 147 teams from NCAA Division II to achieve at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average this year.
