ARCATA, Calif.--- After successfully opening the season at last weekend's Green & Gold Open, a pair of Lumberjack heptathletes will make the trek over Highway 299 to compete in the Chico Multi-Event Classic on Thursday and Friday at University Stadium in Chico, Calif.

The meet will be a career debut for freshman Cocome McKamey as she participates in her first collegiate heptathlon alongside teammate and returning conference champion Grace Kasberger.

"My expectations for this meet are not to necessarily hit PR performances," head track & field coach Sarah Ingram said. "I just want her [Cocome] to get the experience of running a collegiate heptathlon. We usually say the first meet of the year is a rust buster. This Chico heptathlon is kind of that for the mutli-events."

The heptathlon begins with the 100-meter hurdles at 11 a.m. on Thursday. Athletes will also compete in the high jump, shot put, and 200-meter dash to round out the first day of action. Friday's events will consist of the long jump, javelin and 800-meter run to close the second day of action.
