COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — In the water, on the bike, on the road and in the classroom, Cal Poly Humboldt Triathlon showed exceptional performance in its first season of existence, as the program earned four College Triathlon Coaches Association (CTCA) Scholar All-American nods for the fall 2022 season. Lumberjack triathletes Emilie Cates, Megan Franco, Elizabeth Odell and Camille Shaver all earned honorable mention status for their performances on the course and in the classroom.
"With our small roster, it is quite the achievement to have 5 student-athletes earn above a 3.7 GPA and 4 earn CTCA Honorable Mention Scholar All-American awards," head triathlon coach Kinsey Laine said. "I applaud them for their commitment and dedication to their studies. I'm so pleased to see their efforts in the classroom pay off."
To earn Scholar All-American distinction, athletes must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher while also having been a participant at the national championships.
The 'Jacks completed their fall season at the Women's Collegiate National Triathlon Championships, where the team finished 12th in the Division II race in their inaugural campaign. The Green & Gold will be back in action for a handful of races this spring, starting off with the Beaver Freezer Sprint Triathlon in Corvallis, Oregon on Saturday, Apr. 8. The team will finish off the spring with a trip to Spearfish, South Dakota when they compete at the Black Hills Tri-Fest on Sunday, Apr. 23.
