SYDNEY, Australia -- In their first preseason exhibition match of the season, Cal Poly Humboldt earned a 2-2 draw against the semi-professional Sydney Olympic FC.
"It was great to get on the field and start looking at our team and the variety of roles everyone may play," said head coach
Grant Landy. "Coming back from 0-2 down was a good statement and I think had we played another 10 minutes or so we probably would have found a third goal."
After being down two goals at the half,
Kylea Becker got the 'Jacks on the scoreboard with a header goal off a free kick from
Emma McChristie.
"Emma's ball was perfect," said Becker. "I ran onto it, went top corner. It was a crazy header goal, I've never had a header goal."
Shortly after, Becker added the equalizer off a corner kick with just under ten minutes left in the match, which led to the result of a 2-2 draw against Sydney Olympic FC.
"Our energy and focus was impressive given our travel so hopefully we can replicate that in our next game," stated Landy. The 'Jacks take on Edge Hill United FC from Cairns, Australia on August 7 at 6:30 PM (1:30 AM PT).
