No. 21 Humboldt Continues Unbeaten Streak After Defeating Sonoma

ARCATA, Calif. -- No. 21 Cal Poly Humboldt hosted Sonoma State for a non-conference match up at College Creek Field. The Jacks continued their winning ways, as they were victorious over the Seawolves with a final score of 2-0. Emma McChristie and Frida Duran Arellano both scored in the second half to help the Jacks win their third straight match. Humboldt improved to 6-0-1 to finish the non-conference part of their season unbeaten. Although Sonoma State is a part of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), each team across the conference played their travel partner to wrap up the non-conference regular season over the weekend.

Match Summary
In the first half, the Humboldt attack tripled the amount of Sonoma shots that were taken (9-3), but neither team was able to score as the half came to an end. As the second half began, a yellow card on Sonoma State gave Emma McChristie a free kick opportunity. McChristie found the back of the net and tallied her third goal of the season. Shortly after, Frida Duran Arellano also scored her third goal of the season on an assist from Grace Johnson and Emilie Wallin. Sonoma had plenty of opportunity as they posted 10 shots in the second half, and goalkeeper Carson Thomson-Terrel collected four saves during the half. As the game finished, Thomson-Terrel had five saves and recorded her fifth clean sheet of the season.
