ARCATA, Calif. -- The No. 21 ranked Cal Poly Humboldt women's soccer team hosted the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos at College Creek Field on Friday afternoon to kick-off California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play. Despite a late second half attempt of a comeback, the Jacks fell to the Broncos with a final score of 2-0.

No. 21 Cal Poly Humboldt women's soccer suffered their first loss of the season in their conference opener today against Cal Poly Pomona. Pomona came out on the front foot early and pressured the Jacks into surrendering 9 first-half corner kicks. They out-shot the hosts 4-2 in the first half as both teams played to a 0-0 score at halftime.
In the second half, Pomona earned a quick corner kick in the 47th minute which Jaclyn Cuevas finished to put the visitors in the front 1-0. In the 70th minute, Cuevas got her second goal of the game, converting a penalty kick to give Pomona a 2-0 lead. Humboldt mounted a comeback, putting the pressure on in the final 10 minutes. Pomona goalkeeper Bella Hara came up with a huge save on a penalty kick in the 85th minute to seal the victory.
Cal Poly Pomona improved to 3-2-2 on the season and 1-0 in conference play while Humboldt dropped their first game of the season and now have a 6-1-1 record and are 0-1 in CCAA conference play.
