ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Cal Poly Humboldt women's cross country team faced stiff competition at the Lewis Crossover, one of the premier meets of the regular season, hosted by Lewis University on Saturday. The Lumberjacks finished 35th in a field stacked with top-ranked programs from across the nation.
Leading the way for the Jacks was freshman
Artana Nice, who crossed the finish line in 22:58.46, placing 109th overall and earning 98 points for the team. This performance highlights Nice's continued growth in her first collegiate season, establishing herself as one of Humboldt's top runners as she has been the top-finisher in all three meets thus far.
Junior
Alexa Amador was the next Lumberjack to finish, completing the 6K course in 24:14.50 to place 241st and add 194 points to the team's tally. Freshmen
Mikenna Conan (25:00.66) and
Nayeli Huynh (25:02.11) came in close together, contributing 217 and 218 points respectively.
Junior
Reese Sion recorded a season-best time of 25:25.19 to finish 298th, followed by sophomore
Charlotte Leonard (26:43.63) and junior
Mariska Kessler (27:15.92), rounding out the scoring for Humboldt.
Despite the strong individual performances, the Jacks faced formidable opponents, finishing with 957 points overall in the 36-team field. Colorado School of Mines captured the team title with just 69 points.

The Lumberjacks will now shift their focus to the Bronco Invitational, which is hosted by Santa Clara next weekend (Oct. 19) at
Baylands Park, as they continue prepare for the CCAA Championships later this season.
