SALEM, Ore. – The Cal Poly Humboldt women's cross country team delivered a strong performance at the 49th Charles Bowles Invitational on Saturday, October 5. Competing in the Women's 5K, the team secured a 6th-place finish overall in a competitive field.
Freshman
Artana Nice led the Lumberjacks with an impressive 8th-place finish, clocking in at 17:30.2. Her strong pace early on helped her secure vital points for Humboldt. Nice has been the top-finisher for Humboldt in both meets this season so far.
Junior
Lex Craven followed up with a solid performance, placing 47th overall with a time of 18:46.2. Craven's consistent stride earned the team another set of crucial points.
Alexa Amador, a junior, contributed significantly to the team's score by finishing 61st with a time of 19:00.7. Her finish kept Humboldt in the hunt for a top team placing.
Freshman
Nayeli Huynh and fellow first-year
Mikenna Conan crossed the line side-by-side, both recording a time of 19:04.6, securing 64th and 65th positions, respectively. This marked a personal best for Conan, a promising start to her collegiate career.
Rounding out the top six for the Lumberjacks was
Mariska Kessler, who took 81st place with a time of 19:21.4, capping off a strong team effort.
Overall, Cal Poly Humboldt finished 6th out of 21 teams, compiling 195 points. Their strong showing set the stage for continued growth and success as the season progresses.
