ARCATA, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt volleyball standouts
Awelina Fakalata and
Kyra Slavik were recognized with All-CCAA honors, as announced by the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) on Wednesday. Fakalata earned a spot on the All-CCAA Second Team for the second consecutive season, while Slavik was named an All-CCAA Honorable Mention recipient.
Fakalata capped off an extraordinary two-year career with the Lumberjacks by surpassing the 700-kill mark in her final match, bringing her total to 709 kills as a Lumberjack. Across her collegiate career, which included her time at American River College, Fakalata amassed 1,735 total kills. This achievement ranks her third all-time in kills for Humboldt during the 25-point scoring era and second all-time in single-season kills with 386 this season. Her dynamic play and leadership cemented her as one of the program's most impactful players.
Slavik, who orchestrated the Lumberjack offense as the team's setter, was also celebrated for her remarkable contributions. She concluded her career just shy of 1,300 assists (1,280), making her the all-time assist leader in Humboldt's 25-point era. Additionally, Slavik's 648 assists this season rank her second all-time in single-season assists, showcasing her consistency and skill in guiding the team's attack.
The duo's performances were pivotal for the Lumberjacks throughout the 2024 campaign and their accolades are a testament to their impact and contributions to Cal Poly Humboldt Volleyball.
