Cross Country Women and Men Off to CCAA Championships

ARCATA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Humboldt men's and women's cross country teams will travel south to compete in the 2025 CCAA Cross Country Championships, hosted by Chico State at Hooker Oak Recreation Area in Bidwell Park on Friday, Oct. 24. The women's 6K race will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the men's 8K at 11 a.m.

The Lumberjacks will look to extend their season and compete against eleven other programs for a chance to qualify for the NCAA West Regional Championships in Monmouth, Ore.

LAST TIME OUT

The Lumberjack men are coming off a competitive showing at the Bronco Invitational on Oct. 18, where they continued to gain experience against a deep field of Division I and II programs. Junior Jacob Cosio led Humboldt across the line in 25:39.9, followed by senior Hunter Phillips (26:04.0) and freshman Flynn Merriman (26:33.5).

On the women's side, junior Isabel Perez-Zoghbi paced the 'Jacks at the San Francisco State Invitational, finishing 17th in 21:32.0. Senior Lex Craven (22:48.2), juniors Brinna Weiseth and Anna Tasky, and sophomore Lyla Fedio rounded out the scoring lineup in a strong team effort that demonstrated depth and consistency throughout the pack.

CHAMPIONSHIP SETTING

The 2025 CCAA Championships return to Bidwell Park for the first time since 2013, marking the third time the event has been hosted at the scenic Chico course. The route offers a mix of flat, shaded fire roads and challenging hilly trails under towering oak trees—a setting that provides an ideal backdrop for championship racing.

Programs from across the conference, including perennial powerhouse Chico State, will compete for both team and individual titles. The Wildcats swept last year's team crowns, with the men extending their championship streak to 22 consecutive seasons.

The CCAA Championships serve as the final tune-up before the NCAA West Regional Championships, where the Lumberjacks will look to carry momentum from this weekend into the postseason.
