Women’s Soccer Embarks on Bay Area Road Trip to Face Pioneers, Gators

ARCATA, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt women's soccer hits the road this week for a pair of CCAA matchups in the Bay Area. The Lumberjacks (3-3-3, 1-0-1 CCAA) will take on Cal State East Bay on Friday, Oct. 10 at 12:30 p.m. PT at the Las Positas Athletics Complex before visiting San Francisco State on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 11:30 a.m. PT at Cox Stadium.

LAST TIME OUT

The Lumberjacks extended their unbeaten streak to three matches with a 1-0 victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday at College Creek Field. Sophomore forward Frida Duran Arellano delivered the decisive strike in the 47th minute, calmly converting a penalty kick to keep the Lumberjacks undefeated in the conference.

Humboldt outshot the Toros 15-9 and held a 9-6 advantage in shots on goal. The Lumberjacks' goalkeeper tandem of Ariana Beddoes and Carson Thomson-Terrel combined for six saves to secure the clean sheet while the back line held firm under late pressure.

PUSHING PAST THE PIONEERS

Cal State East Bay (4-4-1, 2-0-0 CCAA) enters Friday's contest looking to continue their  two-game streak of victories after beating Stanislaus State 2-1 and shutting out UC Merced to open conference play. The Pioneers have shown attacking promise this season but will face a Humboldt defense that has not conceded a goal in its last 270 minutes of action.

This matchup marks the 18th all-time meeting between the two programs, with the Pioneers holding a narrow edge in the series. Humboldt will aim to maintain its defensive momentum and continue generating chances through Heidie Munoz and Karsyn Ross, who have consistently fueled the attack in recent weeks.

GRINDING VERSUS THE GATORS

San Francisco State (0-7-2, 0-2-0 CCAA) will host Humboldt on Sunday desperate for a win in their win column. The Gators find themselves on a four-game skid entering the match, allowing 13 goals and scoring none in that span.

The Lumberjacks dominated in their last meeting, cruising to a 4-0 win at College Creek Field behind a four-goal second half. Humboldt will look to replicate that offensive surge while relying on its disciplined midfield unit to control possession and limit scoring chances for the Gators.
