Perez-Zoghbi Posts Nationally-Ranked Mark to Lead Humboldt at GVSU Big Meet on Friday

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Cal Poly Humboldt women's track & field team delivered a strong set of performances Friday at the GVSU Big Meet, highlighted by personal records, season bests inside the Kelly Family Sports Center.

FIELD EVENTS

Sophomore Lily Shadden led Humboldt in the high jump, clearing a season-best 1.59m (5-2.50) to open the day on a positive note. In the horizontal jumps, Cocome McKamey turned in a solid mark of 5.27m (17-3.50) in the long jump to place seventh, continuing her consistent indoor campaign.

The Lumberjacks saw multiple personal bests in the throws. Freshman Sophie Coil recorded a PR of 11.70m (38-4.75) in the shot put, while junior Marielle Winuk posted a personal-best 13.95m (45-9.25) in the weight throw. Freshmen Isabella Claussen (11.10m / 36-5.00) and Laura White (10.54m / 34-7.00) added depth in the shot put, with White notching a personal record.

TRACK EVENTS

Freshman Caitlyn Dougherty highlighted the track performances with an impressive personal-best 57.30 in the invitational 400 meters. Dougherty later returned to run 25.25 in the invitational 200 meters.

Sophomore Brielle Jimerson continued her strong indoor season, clocking a personal-best 58.20 in the open 400 meters before adding a 25.59 performance in the invitational 200.

In the sprints, McKamey led Humboldt in the open 200 meters with a time of 26.40. Mia Roberts followed closely at 26.46, while freshman Kelsi Lytle posted a 26.82. Lytle also ran 8.00 (7.993) in the 60-meter prelims, with Roberts finishing in 8.16.

McKamey added another performance on the track in the 60-meter hurdles, recording a time of 9.19 in the prelims.

Sophomore Isabel Perez-Zoghbi delivered the top performance of the day, running 4:52.39 in the invitational mile, a provisional mark that ranks No. 27 nationally in Division II this season.

Freshman Brinna Weiseth capped off the distance events with a personal best 10:31.37 in the 3000 meters.

UP NEXT

Cal Poly Humboldt returns to action Saturday for the final day of competition at the GVSU Big Meet. After the conclusion of the meet, the Lumberjacks will look towards outdoor season at home with the Green & Gold Open on Saturday, Feb. 28.
