ARCATA, Calif. - Cal Poly Humboldt student-athlete
Charlotte Leonard has been selected as one of two university recipients for the
2025-26 Dr. Hal Charnofsky Memorial Award, the California Collegiate Athletic Association announced Thursday.
The annual award recognizes two student-athletes from each of the conference's 12 member institutions who have distinguished themselves through excellence in both academics and athletics while representing their university with integrity and leadership.
Leonard is among 24 student-athletes honored across the CCAA for the 2025-26 academic year. This year's recipients include representatives from 12 of the conference's 13 sponsored sports and a variety of academic disciplines, highlighting the balance of success in the classroom and in competition.
Each institution selects one male and one female recipient based on their commitment to academic achievement, athletic performance and leadership within their campus community.
The award is named in honor of the late
Dr. Hal Charnofsky, a longtime Cal State Dominguez Hills faculty member who was a passionate advocate for the student-athlete experience. A former All-American baseball player at USC and member of the New York Yankees organization, Charnofsky later helped establish the sociology department at Cal State Dominguez Hills and served as coordinator of the university's master's degree program in marriage, family and child counseling from 1980 to 2002.
Leonard continues a proud tradition of Cal Poly Humboldt student-athletes earning one of the CCAA's highest individual honors, recognizing excellence beyond competition and celebrating achievement in all aspects of the collegiate experience.
