ARCATA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Humboldt women's track & field team opened the outdoor season in impressive fashion Saturday, delivering event victories, personal bests, and strong all-around performances at the Green & Gold Open.
Competing on their home track, the Lumberjacks controlled multiple events and set the tone for the spring campaign with a balanced showing across sprints, distance, jumps, and throws.
FIELD
The Lumberjacks controlled the throws, led by Sophie Coil, who won both the shot put (12.00m) and discus (37.46m) with personal-best marks. Laura White (10.57m) and Isabella Claussen (10.37m) followed in the shot put, while White (31.67m) and Claussen (29.60m) added strong discus performances.
Marielle Winuk captured the hammer throw with a personal-best 43.88m, and White placed second (40.13m).
In the long jump, Cocome McKamey earned the victory with a season-best 5.21m. Mia Roberts added a 4.91m personal best, and Lily Shadden recorded a 4.71m mark.
Katarina Muellerleile cleared a personal-best 3.30m to win the pole vault.
In the high jump, Katie MacLean and Shadden each cleared 1.50m, while Tully Leonard added a 1.45m effort.
TRACK
Brielle Jimerson led a strong sprint showing, winning the 100 meters in a personal-best 12.56. Mia Roberts (12.75) and Kelsi Lytle (12.77) followed to give Humboldt the top three finishes.
Roberts returned to win the 200 meters in 26.45.
In the hurdles, McKamey captured the 100-meter hurdles (15.40), while Caitlyn Dougherty followed in 15.58 before winning the 300-meter hurdles in 45.53. Jimerson (52.71) and Leonard (53.09) added depth in the 300 hurdles.
In the 800 meters, Matilda Fitzgerald led Humboldt with a 2:26.86, while Lyla Fedio posted a 2:41.38.
The distance group showed depth in the 3200 meters, where Brinna Weiseth (11:26.46) placed second overall. Charlotte Leonard (11:42.76), Nayeli Huynh (11:55.92), Fedio (11:57.23), and Izzi Peila (12:03.43) all recorded personal bests.
Humboldt's 4x100 relay team of Lytle, Dougherty, Jimerson, and Roberts closed the meet with a victory in 47.88. The 'Jacks also claimed the top seven finishes in the 4x1200 relay.

Cal Poly Humboldt will continue its outdoor season next weekend with two separate meets at the Sam Adams Multi in Santa Barbara, Calif. and the Kim Duyst Invitational in Turlock, Calif. as the Lumberjacks build momentum toward the heart of their spring schedule.
