TURLOCK, Calif. – The Cal Poly Humboldt women's track & field team turned in several strong performances Saturday at the Kim Duyst Invitational, highlighted by event victories and multiple top-five finishes.
The Lumberjacks were led by event wins from Katarina Muellerleile in the women's pole vault while Humboldt added podium finishes across the sprints, throws, and jumps.
FIELD
Sophomore Katarina Muellerleile earned Humboldt's event victory of the meet, clearing 3.35m (10-11¾) to win the pole vault. This mark ranks her No. 4 all-time in program history.
In the high jump, the Lumberjacks placed three athletes in the top seven, led by Lily Shadden, who finished third with a clearance of 1.55m (5-1). Katie MacLean and Caitlyn Dougherty each cleared 1.50m (4-11) to finish fifth and seventh, respectively, while Tully Leonard cleared 1.45m (4-9).
The throwing group produced several strong marks, led by freshman Sophie Coil, who placed fourth in the discus with a throw of 39.10m (128-3). Samantha Smith added a fifth-place finish at 37.10m (121-8).
Coil also placed fifth in the shot put with a mark of 11.77m (38-7½), while Laura White finished sixth with a throw of 11.59m (38-0¼).
In the hammer throw, Marielle Winuk led Humboldt with an eighth-place finish at 42.86m (140-7), followed by White at 40.37m (132-5).
Shadden also placed seventh in the long jump with a mark of 4.75m (15-7).
TRACK
Freshman Caitlyn Dougherty highlighted Humboldt's sprint group with a third-place finish in the 200 meters, running 24.51. The time ranks as the No. 3 all-time performance in program history and currently sits second in the CCAA this season. Dougherty also placed sixth in the 100 meters with a time of 12.18, which ranks No. 4 all-time at Humboldt and fourth in the CCAA this season. She won her heat in both events by a sizable margin and also placed eighth in the 100-meter hurdles at 15.49.
Brielle Jimerson, Kelsi Lytle, and Mia Roberts also competed in the 100 meters, finishing eighth, ninth, and 12th, respectively.
Jimerson's 12.46 finish ranks No. 10 all-time in program history.
Lytle added an eighth-place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 25.60, while Roberts finished in 26.32.
The Lumberjacks' 4x100 relay (Kelsi Lytle, Caitlyn Doughery, Brielle Jimerson, Mia Roberts) placed fourth with a time of 47.78 and posted a mark that ranks second all-time in program history.
Senior Tully Leonard also represented Humboldt in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing seventh in 1:16.13.

Cal Poly Humboldt continues its outdoor season next week as the Lumberjacks will head to Chico, Calif. for the Wildcat Invitational on Saturday, Mar. 14.
