SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt women's track & field turned in a strong performance at the Sam Adams Combined Events, highlighted by Cocome McKamey's heptathlon during the two-day meet hosted by UC Santa Barbara. McKamey paced the women with a fifth-place finish in the heptathlon and earned an NCAA DII provisional mark.
HEPTATHLON
McKamey opened the heptathlon with a strong showing in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing second with a time of 14.85.
She cleared 1.60m (5-3) in the high jump to place second in the event and later added a 5.17m (16-11.5) leap in the long jump.
In the throws, McKamey posted a 10.83m (35-6.5) mark in the shot put and a 21.19m (69-6) effort in the javelin.
She later recorded a 26.28 finish in the 200 meters before closing the competition with a 2:25.39 performance in the 800 meters.
McKamey's consistent performances across all seven events earned her a fifth-place finish with 4,624 points, an NCAA DII provisional mark in the heptathlon.
