SAN MARCOS, Calif. — Cal Poly Humboldt women's track & field earned a pair of podium finishes Friday on Day Two of the CCAA Championships, highlighted by a conference title in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and a silver-medal performance in the high jump.
Isabel Perez-Zoghbi captured gold in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, winning the event in 10:42.59 to claim her first gold medal of the meet and score 10 points for the Lumberjacks. Lex Craven also scored in the event, placing eighth in 11:33.88, while Katelyn Touchet finished ninth in 11:37.46.
In the women's high jump, Lily Shadden earned silver with a mark of 1.63 meters, or 5 feet, 4.25 inches, securing her first career podium finish at the CCAA Championships. Katie MacLean also competed in the event, finishing 11th at 1.48 meters.
On the track, Perez-Zoghbi continued her strong day by advancing in the 800-meter prelims, placing second in 2:13.60. Matilda Fitzgerald finished 20th in 2:27.15.
In the 200-meter dash prelims, Brielle Jimerson led Humboldt with a ninth-place finish in 24.78 seconds. Mia Roberts placed 15th in 25.26, while Kelsi Lytle finished 25th in 25.98.
In the women's hammer throw, Marielle Winuk placed 11th with a mark of 38.91 meters. Isabella Claussen finished 16th at 35.97 meters, while Laura White placed 23rd at 21.24 meters.
Through nine scored women's events, Cal Poly Humboldt sits fifth in the team standings with 26 points.
