EMPORIA, Kan. -- Cal Poly Humboldt junior standout Isabel Perez-Zoghbi etched her name into Lumberjack history on Saturday evening, earning national runner-up honors in the women's 800-meter final at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Emporia, Kansas.
Perez-Zoghbi crossed the finish line in 2:02.95, finishing second in the nation by less than four-tenths of a second, while shattering her own school record by nearly two seconds.
The junior previously set the program record earlier this season at 2:04.92, continuing a historic campaign that now stands among the greatest individual seasons in Cal Poly Humboldt track and field history.
With Saturday's performance, Perez-Zoghbi becomes the first track athlete in Humboldt history to earn All-American honors during both the indoor and outdoor seasons. After claiming Indoor All-American recognition earlier this year, she now secures her first NCAA Outdoor Track & Field All-American honor in the 800 meters.
Perez-Zoghbi's remarkable 2026 season featured success at every level of competition. The junior earned USTFCCCA All-West Region honors and captured a CCAA Championship during the outdoor campaign before delivering her breakthrough performance on the national stage.
Her consistency, versatility, and record-breaking performances throughout both the indoor and outdoor seasons cement Perez-Zoghbi's year as one of the most complete and decorated single-season resumes in Cal Poly Humboldt track and field history.
