ARCATA, Calif. - Cal Poly Humboldt sophomore middle blocker Phoebe Bland has been named the FloCollege/CCAA Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 21-27.

Bland helped the Lumberjacks complete an unbeaten week with victories over Menlo and Cal State Monterey Bay. She totaled six solo blocks, six block assists, eight digs and one service ace across eight sets.

The Kennewick, Washington, local produced six solo blocks and one block assist during Humboldt's five-set victory over Menlo on Thursday. She also collected four digs and a service ace as the Lumberjacks limited the Oaks to a .143 hitting percentage.

Bland helped finish the victory with a block on match point, securing Humboldt's 15-11 win in the deciding set.

She continued her defensive work during Saturday's sweep of Cal State Monterey Bay, recording five block assists and four digs. Bland helped Humboldt finish with eight total blocks while holding the Otters to a .119 hitting percentage.

Bland currently ranks fourth in the CCAA with 11 solo blocks and eighth in the conference with 0.92 blocks per set.

This is Bland's first career FloCollege/CCAA Defensive Player of the Week award. She is the second Lumberjack to earn the defensive honor this season, joining Elizabeth Jade Andrade, who received the award following the opening week of competition.

Bland was joined among the conference's weekly honorees by teammate Graysen Trupp, who was selected as the FloCollege/CCAA Offensive Player of the Week. Humboldt swept the conference's two weekly volleyball awards after winning both of its matches.

The victories moved Cal Poly Humboldt to 7-5 overall and 2-2 in CCAA play. The Lumberjacks will visit Cal State San Bernardino on Friday, Oct. 2, at 5 p.m. before facing Cal State San Marcos on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 5 p.m.
