Johnson's Comments

“We are just not scoring goals.  Again, we gave up an early soft goal at (Cal State) Stanislaus.  Those type of goals, in the last three or four weeks, have really hurt us.  Injuries have really hurt us and finding the back of the net has been a huge issue. From an offensive standpoint, from our back line to the top of their box we have been playing good possession soccer.  We are getting opportunities, but they haven't been on frame or haven't been quality shots.  We are getting the shots.  At Stanislaus, we more than doubled their shot output (11-5), but we haven't taken them to that next level where we are putting them away.  The same can be said of our play at Chico (State).  We just haven't been very lucky.  We have hit the post six times in the last few weeks.  If you can't convert your opportunities, eventually it will catch up with you and it has for us.” … “Sonoma (State) is a rival game.  I think everyone is surprised that they are not having a better year.  I don't know exactly why they are in the middle of the group like we are, but either way it is going to be a battle.  We have a chance to finish conference play at least tied for the most wins in the North Division.  We could finish with more wins than Chico (State) who will probably win our Division.  So, we are going to continue to fight, continue to create opportunities and hopefully start getting the goals and end the season on a high note.”
