Johnson's Comments
“I was very happy with our effort on Sunday. We played with heart and determination and never gave up. We didn't always have the run of play, but as in the UC San Diego match we fought. We got the win and I hope that the team uses that as motivation moving forward.” … “(Cal State) Dominguez (Hills) played for the national championship game last year and (Cal State) Los Angeles could have been in that game as well. Neither team graduated any significant players from last year, but have brought in new talent that have sent some of last season's starters to the bench.” … “We played well against both of these teams last year (1-2 loss to CSUDH in overtime and a 3-3 tie with CSULA) and we will try to use that as motivation, but we are a different team this season. We will really have to step up our game in order to compete. If we don't come out with heart, playing with pride and an attitude that we can compete with anyone, it is going to be a very tough two games.”
