The match also marked the final home appearance of seven Lumberjack players.  Kim Carroll, Danielle Drucker, Anna Erway, Arielle Kern, Sarah Nakamoto, Kelly Sandberg and Tamlyn Tsubota participated in green and gold for the final time in Arcata.

With the tie the Jacks are now 3-11-1 overall, 3-9-1 in California Collegiate Athletic Association action.  Sonoma State is 2-8-4, 1-8-4 in conference play.

The Seawolves got the field's and the match's first shot and made it count.

A Shayla Mellenthin corner kick flew right to Allison Kern at the far post.  She kneed it to the other side of the goal for the first score on the College Creek Soccer Field.  With 7:01 gone SSU led 1-0.

Four of the next five shots were taken by the Jack and at the 39:06 mark HSU's first goal came.

From just inside the midfield line, Megan Kendall lifted a pass to Carly Kolpin who was at the top of the 18.  Kolpin weaved her way through two defenders and from the top of the six shot it high to the far post.  It was her first goal of the season.  The teams went to the locker rooms with the score 1-1.

HSU controlled play in the first 45 minutes and out shot the Seawolves 7-to-2.

In the second half the teams went back and forth.  Humboldt State had a slight advantage in shots, 9-to-8, but the Seawolves had five shots on frame to the Jacks three.

The most dangerous play of the second half came at the 76:20 mark.  SSU's Sara Studer ripped a shot from 20 yards out that Jacks keeper Jennie Paugh parried over the crossbar to preserve the tie.

In the first overtime the play was even with each team managing just one shot.

The second overtime saw Sonoma State apply the pressure, out shooting HSU 5-to-2.  However, none of the Seawolves shots were on frame.  The Jacks two attempts were both on goal, but turned away by Alexis Sciacqua, the SSU keeper.

For the match HSU out shot Sonoma State 19-16.  Carroll led the Jacks' attack with four shots.  Kolpin and Kern each added three.  Paugh made five saves.

These two teams will play again on Sunday in Rohnert Park with kickoff scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
