Jacks blanked 1-0 at Cal State Stanislaus

TURLOCK – The Warriors of Cal State Stanislaus scored in the 20th minute and made it stand up for the next 70 minutes to defeat the Humboldt State women's soccer team 1-0 on Sunday.

The loss drops the Jacks to 1-7-0 overall, 1-5 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play.  CSUS improves to 7-1-0, 5-1-0 in conference action.

HSU managed only three shots on the day and just one was on frame.  Less than a minute into the match, Arielle Kern's shot was stopped by Warriors' keeper Millie Brown. 

At the 19:16 mark the Warriors Alexia Poon scored from just inside the left side of the penalty box beating Jacks' keeper Jennie Paugh.  It was Poon's third goal of the season.  Karenee Demery and Marissa Dunaway were credited with assists.

Talya Crosby took the only other shot in the half for the Jacks.  It came at the 39-minute mark and went wide.

Cal State Stanislaus out shot HSU 10-to-2 in the first 45 minutes and 15-to-3 on the day.  Demery and Poon led the Warriors attack with five shots each.  The Jacks only shot in the second half was from Kim Carroll in the 84th minute.  It went wide.

HSU struggled to generate offense on this two-game road trip to Chico State and Cal State Stanislaus.  They took just nine shots and had only two of those reach the opposing keeper.

Paugh, appearing in her fifth match and making her fourth start in goal, took the loss.  Her record is now 1-4-0.
