Full Game Notes ARCATA, Calif. - For the third time this season, Humboldt State women's soccer will face a nationally-ranked opponent and host another California Collegiate Athletic Association foe this weekend.
The Lumberjacks play at No. 17 Cal State Stanislaus in a 7 p.m. night match in Turlock, before hosting San Franciso State on Sunday morning at 11:30 a.m.
CAN THE THIRD TIME BE THE CHARM? For the third time this season, HSU will meet a nationally-ranked team on the pitch this week. The Jacks were not successful in the two previous matches – season opener at then No. 3 Western Washington (2-0) and last Sunday at No. 14 Sonoma State.
HSU will return to Turlock, Calif., where it will face No. 17 Cal State Stanislaus. For the third time to be the charm, the Jacks will need to snap a nine-match losing skid to the Warriors. Cal State Stanislaus holds a 12-4 record versus HSU since both were CCAA members dating back to the 2006 season.
OPEN CCAA SCHEDULE VICTORIOUS FOR FIRST TIME With the winning result last Friday, HSU won its CCAA opener for the first time since joining the league in 2006.
The Jacks win also equalled their CCAA win total from a year ago with a 1-12-3 mark.
McMILLIN SCORE STREAK ENDS AT FIVE Taylor McMillin always wanted to play for Humboldt State. She has made the most of her first six games donning the Green and Gold uniform.
McMillin ran her goal scoring streak to five matches by netting the game-winner last Friday night at Cal State East Bay in a 3-2 victory.
Her scoring run ended two days later at Sonoma State, but she continues to lead HSU with those five goals. McMillin's five goals are the sixth most in the CCAA, while she rates ninth in points (10) and 11th in shots on goal (9).
McMULLEN POSTS BEST POINT MATCH In her third season,
Erica McMullen posted her highest point match of her collegiate career last Friday night.
Tied at 1-1, McMullen blasted a 30-yard strike from the right corner at 64:11 for her first score at Cal State East Bay. The junior's top effort did not stop with the goal. Fifteen minutes later, McMullen was responsible for the crossing pass that
Taylor McMillin received to connect on the game-winning goal.
BEHEN LEADING CCAA ASSISTS Colette Behen moved into the CCAA assist lead after assisting on HSU's Sunday goal at Sonoma State. The helper was her fifth to place her atop the league rankings.
Behen also netted her own goal on Friday at Cal State East Bay. The goal was her third this season.
The senior stands sixth in CCAA points with 11.
