ARCATA, Calif. – Humboldt State women's soccer wraps up a three game homestand when it hosts conference matches against San Francisco State Friday at 12:30 p.m. and Cal State Monterey Bay Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
HSU enters the match 3-8-1 overall and 1-4-1 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play after earning a 4-1 non-conference victory against Holy Names University last weekend.
"It was great to see some players step up and really make an impact in Friday's game," said head coach
Paul Karver. "Now the question is, how we carry that forward in two massive conference games."
HSU looks to build on the momentum earned during last weekends second half offensive outburst against Holy Names. The Lumberjacks poured four goals into the Hawks net in the final 20 minutes of play to claim the victory last weekend.
San Francisco State comes into the weekend with a 6-4-3 record overall and a 3-3-2 mark in CCAA play.
"You look at San Francisco State, and they've beaten some really good teams in conference already," said Karver. "They compete hard, and are a very well-coached team that's going to be a unique challenge because of the way they move that ball.
Cal State Monterey Bay sports a 4-8 overall record and a 1-7 mark in the CCAA.
"Monterey Bay is another team that's struggling a little bit, but they won a couple big games during preseason and one in conference," said Karver. "They are a really dangerous opponent, and the game could go either way."
After the pair of weekend matches, the Jacks return to CCAA road action. HSU will travel to Rohnert Park, Calif., to face off with Sonoma State in a 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19 match.
