HSU To Begin CCAA Season This Wednesday Hosting SF State

ARCATA, Calif.---  Coming off a 4-0 win in their home opener this past Saturday, Humboldt State's women's soccer team will begin its California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) season this Wednesday, September 25 when the Lumberjacks host San Francisco State at 12:30pm.  After Wednesday's match, Humboldt State will travel to Rohnert Park, Calif., for a 4pm CCAA match with Sonoma State. 
 
RECAP OF SATURDAY'S MATCH:  Humboldt State improved to 1-2-2 with a 4-0 win this past Saturday afternoon in the Lumberjacks' home opener over William Jessup.  Lindsay Stoner, Sabine Postma, Pikake Hix and Rose Harman all scored goals for the Lumberjacks.  Postma also had an assist and Katelin Talbert had four saves en route to her second straight shutout.  HSU dominated the Warriors as the Lumberjacks outshot their opponents 27-14 including 17-4 in shots on goal.
 
UPDATE ON THE LUMBERJACKS:  Humboldt State is averaging 1.10 goals a game while the Lumberjack defense is giving up 1.10 goals a game.  HSU has recorded back to back shutouts in its 0-0 double overtime tie with Saint Martin's on Sept. 14 and 4-0 win over William Jessup.  Six different players have scored goals for HSU in Sabine Postma, Erin Siegel, Roe Harman, Pikake Hix and Lindsay Stoner.  Postma leads HSU with her three assists.  Katelin Talbert has 21 saves for a .778 saves percentage to go with her 1.10 goals against average and two shutouts. 
 
POSTMA/TALBERT:  Sabine Postma is ranked in the nation in two statistical categories.  She is 24th in total assists with three and 39th in assists/game with her 0.60 average.  Katelin Talbert is fourth in the CCAA with her 4.60 saves per game average.

GATORS IN REVIEW:  San Francisco State is 2-2-1 after losing to Azusa Pacific 3-1 this past Saturday afternoon at home.  Katelyn Patterson leads the Gators with her five goals followed by Kylie Schneider with her two goals and two assists and Matilda Cassel Ledin with one goal and an assist.  Summer Harrington has 1.36 goals against average in goal for SF State while recording 17 saves. 

SF State leads the all-time series with the Lumberjacks 11-6-2.  The Gators won last year's meeting in Arcata, 1-0 on September 16, 2018.  The last HSU win was on Oct. 25, 2017, a 1-0 Lumberjack victory.in San Francisco.
 
SEAWOLVES IN REVIEW:  Sonoma State is 3-2 and is on a two-game winning streak after defeating Seattle Pacific 1-0 and Simon Fraser 3-0.  Alexis Espitia leads the Seawolves with her two goals scored and one assist for a team high five points.  Ashley Morton has posted a 0.73 goals against average in goal for Sonoma State.  She has posted two shutouts and a 0.857 saves percentage with 18 saves.

Sonoma State leads the all-time series with HSU 16-1-3 including defeating the Lumberjacks 2-0 last year in Arcata.  Humboldt State defeated Sonoma State 3-1 on October 30, 2009 in Arcata.
 
WHAT'S NEXT:  After Saturday's match in Rohnert Park, Humboldt State will return home to College Creek Field on October 4 and 6.  The Lumberjacks will host Chico State (October 4 at 12:30pm) and No. 21 Stanislaus State (October 6 at 11:30am).
