QUOTES FROM THE COACH:
"This weekend was really a grit builder for our program," said head coach
Sarah Ingram. "We talk about supporting each other as a family and showing up for each other's events to bring more energy, and it's satisfying to see every individual taking that to heart and persevering through the conditions to support each other through the very last event."
"We competed in some really rough conditions this weekend with a lot of rain, high winds, and cold temperatures," noted Ingram. "We also had another weekend of meet delays, this time in the field events, making it a 10-hour day for some athletes. It's really tough to achieve personal bests in this environment, so we instructed our athletes to compete as best they can against their fields and try to place as high as they can in their heats and flights. Many were able to do that quite well, and we still came out of the weekend with a dozen personal bests, a couple more conference qualifying marks, and a new all-time top 10 program record."
UP NEXT: The Lumberjacks will return to competition as they go back to the State of Oregon. Humboldt will travel to Corvallis, Ore., on Saturday, March 19 to participate in the OSU PNW Invitational on the campus of Oregon State University. The field events will begin at 11am and the track events at 11:45am.
