ARCATA, Calif.---   Once again, the duo of former Cal Poly Humboldt men's soccer standouts Marco Silveira and Mumbi Kwesele are teammates.  This time, Silveira and Kwesele are teammates on the Bay Cities Football (Club) in Redwood City, California.

Bay Cities FC is a member of the National Independent Soccer Association and is in its inaugural season.

KMarco Silveirawesele and Silveira were teammates back in 2017, under the guidance of head coach Fred Jungemann, as members of the Lumberjack men's soccer team. In 2017, Kwesele was a senior and Silveira was a freshman.  "It is great to be able to play alongside Mumbi once again, especially since he already has a few years of professional experience under his belt," said Silveira.

"Playing at Humboldt State was a huge part of my development that pushed me to the pro level," said Kwesele.  "When I came in, Coach Jungemann had an unbelievable amount of confidence in my ability to help the team and gave me game-time that reflected that trust which is crucial for any player to grow. It took us a while to figure out which spot was best for me but he gave me freedom in the roles I played to find the game and make a difference."

During that season, Kwesele was an All-CCAA selection.  The two-year letter-winner was a member of the Lumberjacks from 2016 to 2017 after transferring from Barry University.  Before joining BCFC, Kwesele started his professional career as a member of Real Union B in Spain. Real Union B is located in Irún, Spain, which is the Basque region. He then went to the Richmond Kickers out of the USL League.

"Playing at Humboldt taught me the incredible discipline and work rate required to be successful at the highest level," stated Silveira. "Coach Jungemann did everything he could to make me the best version of myself while I was there. His guidance and trust are what allowed me to be successful in the most competitive conference in D2 soccer."

Marco Silveira and Joe DanaheyThis is Silveira's first year playing professionally after finishing is collegiate career this November.  This past season, Silveira was a First Team All-CCAA selection.  The two-time CCAA Player of the Week was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-West Region Team.  He currently ranks in Jack Men's Soccer History in assists and goals.
