Cal Poly Humboldt Men’s Soccer Announces the Additions of Seven to the 2022 Roster

Lumberjack Men's Soccer Class of 2022 (Francisco Casucci, Edgar Gonzalez, Juan Perez, Landon Leal Ruiz, Ryan Rutherford, Antonio Sandoval, Seth Uson)
ARCATA, Calif.--- Cal Poly Humboldt head men's soccer coach Fred Jungemann has announced the seven additions to the 2022 Lumberjack men's soccer team.  These seven are Francesco Casucci, Edgar Gonzalez, Landon Leal Ruiz, Juan Perez, Ryan Rutherford, Antonio Sandoval and Seth Uson.
 
Francesco Casucci
Casucci is a transfer from North Carolina State University.  Prior to being a member of the Wolfpack, Casucci played for the University of New Mexico Lobos.  While at New Mexico, Casucci scored four goals and had eight assists in 17 matches.  He was named to the Conference USA's All-Freshman team along with being named a three-time recipient of the Offensive Player of the Week.  Casucci is from Geneva, Switzerland, and is the son of Franco and Julia Casucci.
 
He attended Killian Oaks Academy and played for several top clubs in Europe.  Casucci was the captain of the Serie A member Torino FC U20's and led the team to the U20 national club championship. 
 
Edgar Gonzalez
Gonzalez transferred to Cal Poly Humboldt from Cal State Bakersfield in January 2022.  Prior to attending Cal State Bakersfield, Gonzalez played for two seasons at Bakersfield College.  He earned First Team All-League nods and was the Most Valuable Player of the WSC South Division.   Gonzalez earned All-Region honors as well during his sophomore season. 
 
He attended Bakersfield High School and was the All-Southwest Yosemite League Newcomer of the Year as a freshman.  During his senior campaign, Gonzalez was the League's Most Valuable Player. 
 
Landon Leal Ruiz
Leal Ruiz comes to Cal Poly Humboldt from Napa, Calif., where he graduated from Vintage High School this past May.  During the 2019-20 season, the midfielder scored 12 goals and had six assists including scoring the game-winner versus arch-rival Napa High in the last minute.  He is a four-time First Team All-VVAL recipient.  During his sophomore season, he was the NCS Player of the Year.  Leal Ruiz also earned All-County Newcomer of the Year.
 
Juan Perez
Just like Gonzalez, Perez transferred to Cal Poly Humboldt this January.  Perez comes to Humboldt from Chico State where he appeared in 18 matches in Fall 2021. He scored the game-winner in the Wildcats' victory over Stanislaus State.  He also had an assist in Chico State's win over Cal State East Bay. 
 
Perez graduated from Jesse Bethel High School in Vallejo, Calif.  The four-time letter-winner helped lead the Jaguars to the first league championship in Bethel's history.  He scored 18 goals as a senior and earned 2017 Solano County Athletic Conference Player of the Year.
 
Ryan Rutherford
Rutherford is transferring to Cal Poly Humboldt from Truckee Meadows Community College.  During his two seasons at TMCC, Rutherford helped produce six shutouts over 24 career starts.  This past season, he earned All-Region 18 Honorable Mention Honors. The two-time team captain was the TMCC Mighty Lizard recipient for outstanding achievement as a student-athlete.
 
The Reno, Nevada, native graduated from Spanish Springs High School.  The two-time Spanish Springs Player of the Year was the 2019 High Desert Defensive Player of the Year.  In 2018, he earned All-League Defensive First Team honors.  During the 2018 and 2019 seasons, he was the team captain for Spanish Springs.  Spanish Springs captured the High Desert League Championship in 2017, 2018 and 2019.  In 2018, Spanish Springs captured the 2018 Northern Nevada Regional Championship.
 
Antonio Sandoval
Sandoval comes to Cal Poly Humboldt this fall from Foothill College, where he was a member of the men's soccer team.  During his two seasons at Foothill, Sandoval played in 31 matches and started in all but one.  He recorded three assists while helping Foothill to a 33-3-7 overall record.  Prior to Foothill College, Sandoval graduated from Aragon High School. 
 
Seth Uson
Uson is a 2022 graduate from Mililani High School in Mililani, Hawai'i.  He was a member of the soccer team at Mililani where this past season he was the team captain and earned First Team All-State honors.  Uson was an outside-back on Mililani's team that allowed just four goals during the regular season and was undefeated. 
 
During his sophomore season, he scored a goal and had an assist in the Hawai'i High School State Championship game against powerhouse Punahou.  He was a member of the Rush Select Club Team.  Uson was selected by his club team Hawai'i Rush as one of the top 11 players in the club.
