ARCATA, Calif.--- Cal Poly Humboldt women's soccer team will return to the pitch this Thursday, September 8 for a 1pm non-conference match-up with Biola University at College Creek Field. This match was originally scheduled to be in Chico but due to excessive heat in Chico, it will be played in Arcata. Humboldt will face Azusa Pacific this Saturday, September 10 at 10am in Chico at University Soccer Stadium.
RECAP OF LAST WEEKEND: The Jacks went 2-0 last weekend in their two-game home stand. They defeated William Jessup 2-0 on Thursday.
Emma McChristie scored the Jacks' first goal off a ball from
Frida Duran Arellano in the fifth minute. Humboldt's second goal came from Duran Arellano off a ball from McChristie and
Grace Johnson.
Carson Thomson-Terrel had two saves in goal for the Jacks. The Jacks finished the weekend defeating Holy Names 1-0 when
Carmella Baldassarre scored on a ball from Duran Arellano. Thomson-Terrel had three saves en route to her third straight shutout.
HUMBOLDT: Frida Duran Arellano leads the way for 2-1-1 Humboldt with her four points. She has scored one goal and has a team high two assists.
Emma McChristie is right behind Duran Arellano with three points (one goal and one assist).
Carmella Baldassarre has scored Humboldt's third goal of the season while
Grace Johnson has the Jacks' fourth assist.
Carson Thomson-Terrel has posted a 0.25 goals against average with seven saves and three shutouts.
BIOLA: The Eagles enter their match with Cal Poly Humboldt on Thursday afternoon with a 1-2-1 overall record. They tied Cal State Monterey Bay 0-0, lost to Cal State East Bay 1-0 and Stanislaus State 2-0 and defeated Cal State San Bernardino 3-2. Marjie Rechin has scored two goals to lead the way while Sarah Freel has scored their other goal for the Eagles. Abby Chavez has two assists and Anna Boyer has posted a 1.00 goals against average with nine saves. This is the first ever meeting between the two teams.
AZUSA PACIFIC: The Cougars are 2-0-1 entering their match at Chico State on Thursday evening. Azusa Pacific tied Cal State San Marcos 0-0, defeated Cal State Dominguez Hills 2-0 and lost 1-0 to Cal State Los Angeles. Evelina Von Euter has scored two of the Cougars' three goals with Bethany Tee scoring the other APU goal. Maddie Williams has a 0.00 goals against average with 11 saves and three shutouts on the season.
UP NEXT: After Saturday's match versus Azusa Pacific, the Jacks will finish off their non-conference part of their schedule on Sept. 17 when they face Chico State in rare non-conference match in Chico at 4:30pm. Humboldt will begin CCAA play the weekend of Sept. 23. The Jacks will face San Francisco State at 3pm in San Francisco on Sept. 23. They will be in Rohnert Park on Sept. 25, when they face Sonoma State at 11:30am.
