Women's Soccer Look to Extend Season With Result at Chico on Thursday

ARCATA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Humboldt women's soccer team will aim to extend their season with a result at first place Chico State, as the 2025 regular season comes to a close on the road this Thursday, Nov. 6, with a 2 p.m. PT kickoff at University Soccer Stadium. The game will be featured as CCAA Game of Week, honoring the former Humboldt head coach and current Chico State head coach, Kim Sutton, who is set to retire at the end of the season. Also, with the Jacks fighting for playoff contention and Chico State fighting to bring home the CCAA regular season championship, it serves as a premier matchup within the CCAA.

LAST TIME OUT

The Humboldt women (6-5-6, 4-2-4 CCAA) closed their home schedule in dominant fashion with a 3-0 shutout victory over Cal State Monterey Bay. Defender Kyla Okamoto, freshman forward Sari Murphy, and senior Annie Hoffman each found the back of the net as the 'Jacks earned their 10th clean sheet of the season. Goalkeepers Ari Beddoes and Carson Thomson-Terrel combined for three saves, while Humboldt controlled possession and outshot the Otters 12-7. The win solidified Humboldt's postseason position heading into the final week of play. Kyla Okamoto was named CCAA Defensive Player of the Week, as the Jacks now lead the CCAA defensively with 10 shutouts on the season.

WILDCATS AWAIT

The Wildcat women (9-5-3, 7-2-1 CCAA) enter the matchup sitting at the top of the conference standings, boasting one of the stingiest defenses in the CCAA. Humboldt will look to continue its recent offensive rhythm and defensive dominicance to challenge Chico in what could serve as a postseason preview.
