ARCATA, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt's Kyori Lloyd has been named the FloCollege/CCAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 10-16 after leading the Lumberjacks to a pair of crucial road victories.
Lloyd, a sophomore forward, was dominant on both ends of the floor, averaging a double-double with 19.5 points and 13.0 rebounds per game. She shot an impressive .667 percent from the field (14-of-21), 50 percent from three-point range (3-of-6), and 88.9 percent from the free throw line (8-of-9). Her efforts helped keep Humboldt's playoff hopes alive while extending the team's winning streak to four games.
Humboldt started the week with a hard-fought 66-60 victory over Cal State East Bay. Lloyd contributed 15 points and a career-high 13 rebounds to lead the Jacks. She followed that performance with an even bigger night in a dramatic 59-58 win over Stanislaus State, playing all 40 minutes and scoring 24 points on 9-of-13 shooting, including 2-of-4 from beyond the arc. She also secured another 13 rebounds, marking back-to-back career highs on the boards.
Lloyd's consecutive 13-rebound performances moved her into 10th place in the CCAA with 6.5 rebounds per game. She is now averaging 10.7 points per game on the season and has recorded three straight double-doubles, four overall.
This is the first CCAA Player of the Week honor for Lloyd in her career and the first for Cal Poly Humboldt this season.
The Lumberjacks will look to carry their momentum on the road this week, facing Cal State Dominguez Hills on Feb. 20 and Cal State LA on Feb. 22. Fans can follow the action live on FloCollege. Visit GoCCAA.org/FloCollege to sign up today.
