ARCATA, Calif. - The Cal Poly Humboldt women's soccer team is set to close out its preseason schedule with a pair of exhibition matches this week. The Lumberjacks will host Southern Oregon on Thursday, Aug. 20, before welcoming Oregon Tech to College Creek Field on Saturday, Aug. 22.
Thursday's match against Southern Oregon is scheduled for 2 p.m. PT, while Saturday's exhibition against Oregon Tech will kick off at 11:30 a.m. PT.
LAST TIME OUT
Humboldt opened its preseason with a dominant 5-0 victory over Simpson University last Saturday at College Creek Field. The Lumberjacks received goals from
Alia Prentiss,
Isis-Jade Bryant and Aliyah Huynh, who scored twice in the second half, while Simpson also scored an own goal from a near-Olimpico goal from
Nicole Beauchemin.
Humboldt controlled the match from the opening whistle, outshooting Simpson 19-4 and putting 12 shots on target. The Lumberjacks also held an 11-2 advantage in corner kicks and controlled 56 percent of possession.
Nicole Beauchemin and
Julia Martin each recorded an assist, while
Hayden Anderson and Bryant also contributed assists on Huynh's second-half goals.
The Lumberjacks' defense posted a clean sheet, limiting Simpson to just one shot on goal.
Ari Beddoes and
Adea Nunes split the 90 minutes in goal as Humboldt began its preseason with a convincing victory.
TAKING ON SOUTHERN OREGON
Southern Oregon will provide Humboldt with its second exhibition test of the preseason. The Raiders will make the trip to Arcata as the Lumberjacks continue preparing for the start of the 2026 regular season.
Humboldt will look to build off its strong performance against Simpson while continuing to evaluate its lineup and establish its identity heading into the regular season. Thursday's matchup will also give the Jacks another opportunity to test themselves against outside competition.
OREGON TECH COMES TO ARCATA
The Lumberjacks will wrap up their exhibition schedule Saturday morning when Oregon Tech visits College Creek Field. The 11:30 a.m. matchup will mark Humboldt's final preseason tune-up before the start of the regular season.
With two exhibitions in three days, Humboldt will have an opportunity to see its roster in a variety of situations while continuing to build chemistry on both sides of the ball. The 'Jacks will look to carry the momentum from their 5-0 win over Simpson into the final weekend of preseason action and the start of the regular season a weekend later at the Humboldt Kickoff Classic.
UP NEXT
Following Saturday's exhibition against Oregon Tech, the Lumberjacks will turn their attention to the start of the 2026 regular season at the Humboldt Kickoff Classic hosted by the Lumberjacks. Cal Poly Humboldt will prepare to face Central Washington on Thursday, Aug. 27 as well as Concordia University Irvine two days later on Saturday, Aug. 29.
