Lumberjacks Continue Homestand This Saturday Hosting Chico State

Cole Falco and his fellow defenders have posted five straight shutouts to open the 2021 season
ARCATA, Calif----  Humboldt State will continue its season long four-match homestand this Saturday, September 25 at 12:30pm when the 'Jacks host their rival Chico State Wildcats.  The 5-0 Lumberjacks have won their first five matches all by shutouts for the first time in school history.  If you cannot attend the match, you can watch the match at www.ccaanetwork.com/hsu and view the live stats at https://hsujacks.com/sidearmstats/msoc/summary.
 
COACHING STAFF:  Coach Fred Jungemann is in his ninth year on the sideline for the Lumberjacks.  This year, Coach Jungemann's assistants are three former Lumberjacks in Frankie Calderon, Phil Rouse and Isaiah Dairo who will begin their first year on the Lumberjack coaching staff. 
 
SHUTOUT STREAK CONTINUES:  Humboldt State's shutout streak was extended to five after this past Friday's 1-0 win over Simpson University in the Lumberjacks' home opener. This is the first time in Lumberjack men's soccer history that HSU has opened its season with five straight shutouts.  The match was scoreless until the 69th minute when Marco Silveira connected on his team leading fourth goal of the season off a missed shot by Nico Herrera Land which Ramiro Rosas passed the ball to the 'Jack freshman.  Jacob Cotton recorded the shutout in goal for the Lumberjacks while defenders Sean Tucker, Christian Gonzalez, Cole Falco and Hawk Baxter played a key role in HSU's fifth shutout. 
 
LEADERSMarco Silveira leads the 'Jacks with his team high four goals, six assists and 14 points.  He is tied with Alex Lopez each with two game-winning goals.  Dylan Tovani has the other game-winner for HSU.  Lopez has scored three goals and added an assist for his seven points.  Daniel Adeyeye and Nico Herrera Land each have scored a goal and recorded three assists while Tovani has scored two goals.  Adrian Gallardo has posted a 0.00 goals against average in four matches in goal with 11 saves and a 1.000 saves percentage with four shutouts. Jacob Cotton had the start in HSU's win over Simpson this past weekend for the shutout.  Including the two Lumberjack goalkeepers, defenders Sean Tucker, Dylan Tovani, Christian Gonzalez, Hawk Baxter and Cole Falco have played a major role in HSU's five shutouts.
 
CCAA: Five Lumberjacks are in this week's CCAA statistical leaders in Marco Silveira, Alex Lopez, Daniel Adeyeye, Nico Herrera Land and Adrian Gallardo. Silveira leads the CCAA with his six assists while he is second in points (14), tied for second in game-winning goals (two) and fourth in goals scored (four).  Lopez is tied for second in game-winning goals (two), tied for fifth in points (seven) and goals scored (three).  Adeyeye and Herrera Land each are tied for second with their three assists.  Gallardo leads the CCAA with his goals against average (0.00), saves percentage (1.000) and shutouts per game (one/game). He is ninth with his 11 saves.
 
FIVE:  The Lumberjacks have extended their winning streak to five after their 1-0 win over Simpson.  HSU had a six-match winning streak during the 2017 season.  The longest winning streak in men's soccer history at HSU is seven which happened in 1985.
 
MOVING CLOSERMarco Silveira is two assists from moving past Billy Hansen into second place on HSU's all-time assist list.  Kevin Wiese holds the career record with 30.  Silveira has 20 assists during his career to go with his 12 goals in the Green and Gold.  The senior forward is four goals from moving into tenth place on HSU's career goals list.  He is four assists from moving past Paul Royere into fourth on HSU's single season assists list. Adrian Gallardo is just one shutout from moving into eighth place on HSU's single season shutouts list. 
 
CHICO STATE WILDCATS:  Chico State is 1-4 entering its match with the 'Jacks this Friday afternoon.  Jacob Chung leads the way for Chico State with his three goals while Liam Duerksen has a team high three assists.  Luis Albarran has posted a 1.18 goals against average with 16 saves and a .727 saves percentage.  The Wildcats lead the all-time series with HSU 15-3-1 including winning the last 11 straight matches.  Chico State won 2-1 in 2019 in Arcata as the Wildcats scored with less than a minute left in the match.  HSU's last win over Chico State was in 2009 a 2-1 victory in Chico. The 'Jacks last won in Arcata in 2007, a 1-0 victory. 

UP NEXT: Humboldt State will continue its four-match homestand next weekend on October 1 and 3 when the 'Jacks host Cal State San Marcos (Oct. 1 at 12:30pm) and Cal State San Bernardino (Oct. 3 at 11:30am).
