ARCATA, Calif. - The Cal Poly Humboldt women's soccer team has been selected to finish in the top two of the 2026 California Collegiate Athletic Association Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll, the conference announced Tuesday.

The Lumberjacks received 158 points and two first-place votes from the conference's coaches, finishing 30 points behind preseason favorite Cal Poly Pomona. Cal State San Bernardino was third with 151 points, followed by Stanislaus State (141) and Chico State (137).

Humboldt enters the 2026 season following the most successful postseason run in program history. The Lumberjacks captured their first CCAA Tournament Championship in 2025, becoming the first No. 5 seed in conference history to win the women's soccer tournament.

The 'Jacks earned their championship after advancing past Cal State San Bernardino on penalty kicks before recording consecutive 1-0 victories over Cal Poly Pomona and Chico State to claim the tournament title. Humboldt finished the 2025 season with an 8-6-8 overall record and a 4-2-5 mark in CCAA play.

The tournament championship also secured Humboldt's first NCAA postseason berth as a member of the CCAA.

Cal Poly Pomona was selected as the preseason favorite, collecting 188 points and 10 first place votes. Cal State San Bernardino was picked third with 151 points, while Stanislaus State and Chico State rounded out the top five. Cal State LA (131) was sixth, followed by Cal State San Marcos (118), Cal State Monterey Bay (101), Cal State East Bay (92) and UC Merced (85).

The 2026 season will mark the first year of 14-team CCAA women's soccer competition following the addition of Menlo and Fresno Pacific. The conference tournament will also expand to seven teams beginning this season.
Humboldt will open the 2026 regular season on Thursday, Aug. 27, when the Lumberjacks host Central Washington at College Creek Field. Conference play is scheduled to begin Friday, Sept. 18 against new CCAA member Menlo.
