Three Moore brothers are enshrined in the early annals of Humboldt State athletics from competition in the 1930s. Herb, Jimmy, and Franny were exceptional athletes and the latter gained widespread fame in football, basketball, and baseball.

A story is related by opponents that Franny earned more letters in football than any man in the history of the sport (seven, or so) in those days before the College was bound by conference NCAA regulations. Only fall attendance made this possible.

Moore was a tough little back who broke numerous games open with his fine running and place-kicking. Although relatively short in stature, his scoring ability in basketball made him a fixture on Fred Telonicher’s squads.
