Cal Poly Humboldt Athletics

Iten was a multi-sport athlete at Humboldt, participating in football, basketball, track, and boxing. He was and end for the 1940 and 1941 football seasons and, after a four-year hiatus during World War II, he played halfback for the 1946 and 1947 Lumberjack teams, gaining all-conference honors as a senior. During the war years he was the starting halfback for the powerful St. Mary’s pre-flight team. Iten played two years of varsity basketball in 1940-41 and 1941-42. The 1942-42 team was the league champions, compiling a 13-6 record under Coach Harry Griffith. Iten was also a member of the track team and boxing team.
