Lee Stanton Sullivan, a 1928 graduate of Ferndale High and athletic star at Santa Clara University, transferred to Humboldt State in the fall of 1929 and competed on the football and basketball teams for three years. He graduated in 1933. Sullivan played guard in basketball and alternated at end and tackle on the football squad in the days before platoon football. He was outstanding for his hard and slashing play in football on offense and defense, and for his qualities as a team leader. In basketball, he was a strong defensive player who dominated the defensive boards.

Sullivan joins former teammates Dobe Harrison and Cliff Branstetter, who have been previously inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. Shortly after graduation, Sullivan married a classmate, the former Dolores Henders who was a prominent star on the women’s athletics teams of the early 1930s at Humboldt State. Henders is eventually chosen as the first member of the women’s Hall of Fame (1977)
