Lisa McDonnell played a pivotal role in the success of the Cal Poly Humboldt rowing program during her collegiate career. A standout performer, she was a member of the Varsity 4+ squad that captured the individual national championship at the NCAA Championships in 2004—the first Humboldt boat to ever qualify for the national regatta. Prior to that historic run, McDonnell helped the 2003 team earn a third-place finish at the Pacific Rowing Conference Championships. As a key contributor to the novice eight boat, she was instrumental in securing top-two finishes at every event except the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association (WIRA) Championships, where the crew placed fourth out of 27 Division I, II, and III programs. McDonnell graduated and left behind a legacy of competitive excellence and historic milestones for the program.
